SIMPLE DATES SYRUP FOR DAILY USES

Yummy simple homemade date syrup

Ingredients

1cup Dates

1cup Hot water

Pinch of Salt

Method  

Pit the dates and halve them or chop them roughly.

In a pan bring water and add the pitted and halved dates and cook for 30 min minutes.

Switch off the flame. Let the dates remain in hot water for an hour.

Mash the cooked dates really well and get all the juice.

Squeeze all of the water from the cooked dates really well.

Stain the liquid in a sauce pan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until it reduces down by half and the syrup.

The syrup will start to thicken. Simmer till the syrup thickens and reduces a bit. 

Store in a covered jar at room temperature for up to 15 days or in the fridge for longer.
